Simplifying my Blog on Social Media

Simplifying my blog on social media

At the end of last year, I took a break from social media. I deleted my Instagram and Facebook off my phone. I kept Pinterest because I knew that wasn’t something that I spent a lot of time on and needed it for my blog. I honestly forgot I had Twitter on my phone because I barely use it.

So far it has been great.

Facebook and Instagram are my biggest time-wasters and it was just easier to just delete them off my phone than be tempted with them on there.

With all that being said though, I do intend to get back on Instagram pretty soon because I have many friends on there that I love to see updates on and also show my support to my fellow bloggers.

I just need to learn how to balance myself.

Simplifying social media for my blog

I mostly used social media so that I can reach readers for my blog but as time went on I realized how much time went into it and it was quite exhausting. I mentioned on my goals post that I wanted to mainly focus on Pinterest and SEO for my blog traffic.

Facebook

On Facebook, you can sometimes participate in threads that can help you reach readers for your blog. Doing that every day to get traffic to my blog was starting to feel pointless.

Now I don’t fault these Facebook threads at all because they are a great place to get connected with other bloggers but it was tiring. I felt that I could use that time somewhere else.

I’ve also created a page for my blog. I had many people who liked my page but unfortunately, the engagement wasn’t there. I hardly had any likes or comments on my posts even though almost 200 people followed it. It could have been that I wasn’t posting enough or the content wasn’t what people were really interested. Either way, I decided to delete my page so that it was one less thing to worry about.

Instagram

I think I will continue to use Instagram for my blog but sparingly. Whenever I have a new post I may share it on my Instastory depending on what the content is. So nothing much will really change there.

Twitter

I tried experimenting with Twitter but I just can’t get the hang of it. I know it can be a good way to get traffic to your blog though.

I do understand how essential it is to have your blog on social media but I, personally, was getting overwhelmed.

Another reason I am doing this….

In December, I pick up a job online as a transcriptionist. This will be something I will be talking about soon in a blog post. That has been taking a lot of my time as a work at home mom and that’s why I haven’t been able to post anything last week because of work.

But I am trying to find that balance between this work and my blog.

So hopefully I can get a good schedule going. I still want to do what I can to improve my blog and now I will have that extra money to spend on it.

Anyways that’s all I have to say for now and hope to have a post for you this Friday!

  1. Congratulations. I have come to this conclusion in the past but at times get dragged back in. I have found paid advertising the best method and really speaking to your audience (mailing list, live video, etc.). Pinterest is very pinpoint of who clicks through, they are going to be your best for reaching a targeted audience. Anyway! All the best, I love that you are finding what works for you.
